Francis is an internationally renowned composer and is hugely influential as a music educationalist. Composers who have studied under him include BAFTA winner Rob Lane and the Oscar-winning Dario Marianelli.


Francis is as widely admired for his works for the concert hall as he is for his many scores for television and film. As composer, orchestrator, conductor and lecturer, he is one of the UK’s most gifted and respected musicians.


In 2006 Francis was awarded the Ivor Novello award for Best Film Score for his music to the Oscar-nominated Scandinavian film ‘Ondskan’ (‘Evil’).
